Cat found with burns to his face finds new home

A cat who was found with burns to his head and face has found a permanent new home.

The brown and white striped cat, who has been named Arthur, was handed into an overnight emergency vet after he was discovered injured in Worcester in April.

Following treatment for his burns, he was cared for by the RSPCA’s Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire Branch before being placed for rehoming.

A spokesperson for the animal charity said it was unknown how the cat had sustained the burns, and the owner could not be tracked down as he was not microchipped.

Arthur has since been adopted by Tracy and Barry Salkin, who took him in after seeing on social media what he had been through.

The couple, who have another cat named Lucy, said he now had a “nice large window” and a space including his own sofa bed at his new home, which he moved into on 21 June.

“We just knew upon meeting Arthur, he’s confident, very sweet, and has a little bit of cat-titude,” Mrs Salkin said.

“Providing that he felt he could adopt us, we knew he would do fine.”

Claire Wood, from the branch, said: “Arthur came to us in such a sorry state. But we knew from day one he was a fighter and it has been amazing to see him improve each week.

“When he was ready for rehoming, we knew it wouldn’t be long before a perfect owner would be found and we weren’t wrong.”
